A subsidiary of Reliance Power has obtained a contract for a 350 MW solar and storage project and is aiming for a 2.5 GW portfolio of clean energy projects.

**Reliance NU Energies Secures Major Solar Power Project with Battery Storage**

Reliance NU Energies, a subsidiary of Reliance Power Ltd, has successfully won a competitive bid for a significant solar power project in New Delhi. The project, which will generate 350 MW of solar energy, is integrated with a 175 MW/700 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) and was awarded by the state-run SJVN. Once operational, this initiative will enhance Reliance Power’s clean energy portfolio by adding 600 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity and 700 MWh of storage, bringing its total clean energy pipeline to 2.5 GWp of solar and over 2.5 GWh of BESS.

The winning tariff for the project has been set at ₹3.33 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), fixed for a duration of 25 years. Reliance NU Energies is currently awaiting the letter of award (LoA) from SJVN. This project is part of a larger tender issued by SJVN, which includes 1,200 MW of solar capacity and a 600 MW/2,400 MWh BESS, and has seen overwhelming interest, being oversubscribed more than four times with 19 bidders participating.

The awarded project stipulates a minimum four-hour daily discharge window, ensuring reliable peak power delivery to state distribution companies. It will be developed under a build-own-operate (BOO) model, allowing the developer to independently own and manage the facility.

In a related development, another unit of Reliance Power, Reliance NU Suntech Private Ltd, has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop Asia’s largest integrated solar and BESS project. This ambitious project will feature 930 MW of solar power combined with 465 MW/1,860 MWh of BESS, with an estimated investment of up to ₹10,000 crore.

Reliance Power, part of the Reliance Group, currently operates a total of 5,305 MW of power assets, including the 3,960 MW Sasan Power Ltd., a coal-based power plant.
