**Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Lowers Milk Prices by ₹1 per Litre Nationwide**
New Delhi, Jan 24: The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), known for its Amul brand of dairy products, has announced a reduction in milk prices by ₹1 per litre across India. This price cut applies exclusively to one-litre packs. GCMMF managing director Jayen Mehta stated, “We have reduced the prices of one-litre packs by ₹1 per litre across India. This initiative aims to encourage consumers to purchase larger packs of milk and benefit from the incentive.”
In the capital city of Delhi, the price of Amul Gold milk has decreased from ₹68 to ₹67 per litre, while Amul Taaza will now be priced at ₹55, down from ₹56 per litre. For the financial year 2023-24, GCMMF reported an 8 percent increase in turnover, reaching ₹59,445 crore. Mehta previously indicated that the cooperative anticipates double-digit revenue growth this fiscal year, driven by strong consumer demand.
During the last fiscal year, GCMMF managed an average of 310 lakh litres of milk per day, with a total annual processing capacity of approximately 500 lakh litres. As the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, GCMMF supports 36 lakh farmers across 18,600 villages in Gujarat, with its 18 member unions collectively procuring 300 lakh litres of milk daily. According to the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN), GCMMF ranks 8th among the top 20 dairy companies globally in terms of milk processing.
In addition to its domestic operations, GCMMF exports dairy products to around 50 countries. Last year, the cooperative made its entry into the US market by launching four variants of fresh milk, specifically targeting the Indian diaspora and the Asian community.
