An ex-teammate of Lia Thomas criticizes the left for accepting transgender athletes in women’s sports, claiming they’ve “lost their mind.”

Paula Scanlan has been an advocate for keeping biological males out of girls’ and women’s sports since her former teammate, Lia Thomas, won an NCAA title three years ago. In a recent appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Scanlan addressed the fairness issues surrounding the participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports. She stated, “It’s not fair for them to compete because there’s a significant difference between the men’s and women’s categories. Those who support this have lost their minds… even Democrats agree that men should not compete in women’s sports.”

Scanlan expressed her disappointment, emphasizing the historical struggle for women’s sports and Title IX. “Women fought hard for sports opportunities in the past, and now we find ourselves fighting again because some male athletes want to identify as women. This issue has lost its way,” she remarked.

She highlighted that “80% of Americans” believe transgender girls and women should not compete based on their gender identity, noting that many of her friends and family, who are lifelong Democrats, voted for Donald Trump in the last election primarily due to this issue. “This demonstrates how unpopular this stance is; how often do 80% of Americans agree on something? It shows that common sense dictates men should not compete in women’s sports,” Scanlan added.

Scanlan also pointed out that the recent election revealed a shift in voter sentiment, with many feeling compelled to support her side due to the left’s departure from common sense. “If they continue to double down on this, I hope they realize that voters do not support it.”

The U.S. Department of Education has initiated Title IX investigations into California, Minnesota, and Maine for allegedly allowing transgender athletes to compete against biological females, in violation of Trump’s executive order aimed at keeping men out of women’s sports. Investigations are also underway at San Jose State, Penn, and a Massachusetts high school, where transgender athletes Blaire Fleming and Lia Thomas have competed.
