**BJP Secures Dominant Victory in Arunachal Pradesh Local Elections**

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a significant victory in the recent local elections in Arunachal Pradesh, winning a majority of seats in both zilla parishad and gram panchayat constituencies. The final results were announced by the State Election Commission (SEC) on Sunday evening, following a vote counting process that began on Saturday and extended late into the night.

In the zilla parishad elections, the BJP secured 170 out of 245 available seats, with 59 of those victories coming uncontested. This outcome solidifies the party’s stronghold at the district level. The Peoples’ Party of Arunachal (PPA) emerged as the second-largest party, winning 28 seats, while the Indian National Congress managed to secure only seven seats. The National People’s Party (NPP) won five seats, including one uncontested, and independent candidates along with others claimed 23 seats.

The gram panchayat elections reflected a similar trend, with the BJP winning an impressive 6,085 out of 8,208 seats, including a remarkable 5,211 uncontested victories. The PPA candidates followed with 648 seats, of which 386 were uncontested. Independents secured 627 seats, with 280 uncontested, while the Congress won 216 seats, including 111 uncontested. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) obtained 396 seats, with 159 uncontested, and the NPP won 160 seats, including 81 uncontested. The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) accounted for 27 seats, with 16 uncontested, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won one seat.

The SEC noted that results for 47 gram panchayat seats were determined by a draw of lots due to ties in votes, and 45 seats remain vacant due to various reasons, including lack of nominations and election cancellations.

In the municipal elections, the BJP also performed well, winning 14 out of 20 wards in the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) elections. In the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) elections, PPA candidates won five wards, while the BJP secured two and an independent candidate won one. Notably, the opposition Congress did not win any seats in either the Itanagar or Pasighat civic bodies.

This decisive victory for the BJP underscores its strong grassroots presence and political influence in Arunachal Pradesh, setting the stage for future governance and development initiatives in the region.
