NEW ORLEANS – The NFL currently has just one team still in search of a head coach, and that team is located in the host city of this Sunday’s Super Bowl. While it’s an exhilarating week in New Orleans, the Saints have yet to finalize their head coaching hire, making them the only team in the league without a leader. Several other franchises have already secured their new head coaches, including the Chicago Bears (Ben Johnson), New York Jets (Aaron Glenn), Jacksonville Jaguars (Liam Coen), and the Dallas Cowboys (Brian Schottenheimer).
Many analysts have suggested that the Saints’ head coaching position may not be as appealing to top candidates. However, veteran edge rusher Cam Jordan disagrees. Riding through Radio Row on his Segway GT3 Pro, Jordan highlighted the potential of the Saints’ roster, emphasizing how formidable the team could be with the right leadership next season.
“You look at the Saints and think about players like Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, and Alvin Kamara. The offensive weapons we have could create a potent offense,” Jordan stated. “On defense, we have Demario Davis, myself, Carl Granderson, Khalen Saunders, Bryan Bresee, and safeties like Tyrann Mathieu and Will Harris. There are so many players with potential here. All we need is a head coach, a defensive coordinator, and an offensive coordinator to complete the team.”
There is growing speculation that Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore may take the job once the Super Bowl concludes. Moore, known for his offensive acumen and experience as a former NFL quarterback, has interviewed multiple times with the Saints.
However, the Saints’ job may not be as enticing as others, such as the Bears, who have a young quarterback and a wealth of offensive talent. Despite the Saints’ disappointing 5-12 record this season, Jordan believes the roster is capable of competing with any team in the league. The Saints were considered playoff contenders after their strong start, defeating the Cowboys to improve to 2-0 following a win against the Carolina Panthers.
“But then injuries struck,” Jordan noted. “Chris [Olave] went down, Eric McCoy, our Pro Bowl center, and our guards were also sidelined. When I think about all the players who were injured this year, it felt like we were starting only seven or eight of our 22 starters on offense and defense. Our defensive line seemed to be the only unit that remained healthy. The potential we have tells you everything you need to know.
