The cast of *The Goonies* gathered in Hollywood to honor one of their own, actor Ke Huy Quan, who was celebrated with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday. Many of his co-stars from the beloved 1985 film attended the event, posing for photos together. Among those present were Josh Brolin, writer Chris Columbus, Kerri Green, Corey Feldman, and Joe Pantoliano.
Although Sean Astin, known for his role in *The Lord of the Rings*, was unable to attend the ceremony, he reportedly joined the group later for the premiere of Quan’s new film, *Love Hurts*. During the ceremony, Brolin, who has appeared in *Dune* and various Marvel films, delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing his admiration for Quan. He stated, “I’m so honored to be here today. It’s such a wonderful story that you have. I hold you in a very dear place in my heart. I could not be happier for you. I know we all are, all us Goonies here – for an honor that is not only totally deserved, but celebrates all that is right in this industry. Love you, pal.”
Ke Huy Quan first gained fame in the 1980s with roles in *Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom* as Short Round and in *The Goonies*. After a few roles as a young adult, he faced challenges in securing acting opportunities, leading to a 19-year hiatus during which he worked as a stunt choreographer and assistant director. He made a triumphant return to the screen in 2022 with the acclaimed film *Everything Everywhere All At Once*.
During his speech, Brolin also shared a letter from Steven Spielberg, which praised Quan’s journey: “Ke, your whole life has been a dream come true, and you will be immortalized at the Grauman’s Theatre, an honor bestowed upon very few. So Ke, as always, I’m proud of you for your meteoric rise as a child, and your second meteoric rise as a grown-up.
