Hollywood celebrities are set to shine at the UK film festival.

James McAvoy, Tim Roth, Jessica Lange, and Ed Harris are among a host of Hollywood stars expected to walk the red carpet at this year’s Glasgow Film Festival. The event, taking place from February 26 to March 9, will showcase 13 world and European premieres, 66 UK premieres, and 12 Scottish premieres from 38 countries.

The festival will kick off with the world premiere of the thriller “Tornado,” featuring Roth alongside Scottish director John Maclean and Japanese co-stars Koki and Takehiro Hira. Harris and Lange will be present for the UK premiere of “Long Day’s Journey Into Night,” a film adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s renowned American play. Academy Award-winner Lange will also participate in a special “In Conversation” event, reflecting on her illustrious career that began with the 1976 film “King Kong.” Over the years, Lange has garnered numerous accolades, including two Oscars for “Tootsie” and “Blue Sky,” as well as eight Emmy and Golden Globe awards, many for her performances in the anthology series “American Horror Story.”

Additionally, Formula One champion Damon Hill will attend the world premiere of Sky’s new documentary “Hill,” which features personal interviews with him and his family, chronicling his journey to becoming a world champion driver after the tragic loss of his father, Graham Hill, in a plane crash.

The festival will also highlight local talent. McAvoy will introduce a special screening of his breakout role in the 2006 film “The Last King of Scotland,” while George MacKay returns for the Scottish premiere of the post-apocalyptic musical “The End.”

Furthermore, “Line of Duty” star Martin Compston will join James Cosmo and Solly McLeod at the world premiere of the first episode of the new Amazon Studios thriller “Fear,” filmed in Glasgow’s West End.

The closing gala will feature the world premiere of Martyn Robertson’s documentary “Make It To Munich,” which tells the inspiring story of Scottish teenager Ethan Walker, who, after a near-fatal traffic accident, undertook a charity cycle from Glasgow’s Hampden Park to Munich for Scotland’s opening game of Euro 2024 against Germany.

Allison Gardner, chief executive of the Glasgow Film Festival, expressed her excitement about the impressive program lined up for this year.
