In a significant display of solidarity with the Indian armed forces, the West Bengal BJP organized a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Kolkata following the successful Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that claimed 26 lives. The rally, led by Union Minister and West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar alongside Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, aimed to honor the sacrifices of the military.

Majumdar criticized the state government for its lack of seriousness regarding security issues in West Bengal, asserting, “The West Bengal government is not prompt about the security of West Bengal and India. But it’s not a matter of worry; our central government is alert.” He also addressed concerns regarding the 450 km fencing along the border, accusing those who question the Border Security Force (BSF) of obscuring the reality of infiltration.

The rally emphasized the role of ‘women’s power’ in the armed forces, featuring a traditional ‘sindoor khela’ to symbolize resilience against those who attack women. “Sindoor khela in today’s rally is the answer to those who attacked our women after seeing the vermilion on their foreheads,” Majumdar stated.

Additionally, he took aim at opposition parties, particularly the Congress and CPI(M), accusing them of hypocrisy. “Communists should stop double standards. They are zero in West Bengal and will become Maha zero in West Bengal. Congress is also behaving like a communist party, therefore their vote share is decreasing and will keep depleting in the future too,” he remarked. He further challenged Rahul Gandhi’s potential leadership, stating, “If Rahul Gandhi ever becomes the Prime Minister, then we will see how he answers the people.”

This rally not only served as a tribute to the armed forces but also as a strategic move by the BJP to galvanize support in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, where the party aims to unseat the Trinamool Congress.
