On Wednesday, a registered medical practitioner lost his life when a wall of his house collapsed in Kamareddy, according to police reports. Another individual in the same district is currently unaccounted for after becoming trapped in floodwaters. Aerial drone footage has revealed significant flooding in Kamareddy, highlighting the severity of the situation.

In response to the crisis, over 500 individuals have been relocated to relief camps in Kamareddy, with plans to evacuate more than 1,000 residents from vulnerable low-lying areas. Authorities have also provided food assistance to approximately 1,000 people in the district.

Kamareddy has been particularly hard-hit, with Argonda recording an astonishing 418.3 mm of rainfall between 8:30 AM and 9 PM, followed closely by 302.5 mm in Akkapur, Nirmal district, as reported by the Telangana Development Planning Society. The torrential rain has led to widespread flooding, causing severe traffic congestion along a 30-km stretch of National Highway 44 and necessitating the deployment of disaster management teams.

Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has reached out to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, requesting the deployment of Indian Air Force helicopters to rescue around 30 individuals stranded in floodwaters in Kamareddy and Rajanna-Sircilla districts. Singh has responded positively, instructing defence officials in Hakimpet, Hyderabad, to arrange the airlift.

Rescue efforts have also intensified in Medak district, where approximately 440 people have been moved to safety. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed officials to breach a canal parallel to the river to alleviate excess water from the Pocharam dam.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to engage National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams for relief operations. Senior IAS officers will be appointed as special officers in various districts to oversee these efforts. A 24/7 control room has been established at the state Secretariat to monitor the evolving situation.

NDRF teams have been deployed in Kamareddy and Nirmal districts, while SDRF personnel are being sent to Kamareddy, Medak, and Nirmal. Today, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will conduct an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas, including Kamareddy, Medak, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Sircilla, to assess the damage caused by the heavy rains.
