**Joker: Folie a Deux Tops Razzie Awards Nominations**
Joker: Folie a Deux has garnered the most nominations for this year’s Razzie Awards, five years after its predecessor received multiple Oscar nods. The Golden Raspberry Awards highlight what voters consider the worst films of the year, with winners announced the night before the Academy Awards.
While the original Joker earned 11 Oscar nominations in 2020, including a Best Actor win for Joaquin Phoenix, the sequel has not fared as well. It is nominated for seven Razzies, including Worst Film, with both Phoenix and co-star Lady Gaga recognized in the acting categories.
Other contenders for Worst Film include the sci-fi comedy Borderlands, featuring Oscar winner Cate Blanchett; the poorly received Spider-Man spin-off Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson; Francis Ford Coppola’s self-funded Megalopolis; and Reagan, with Dennis Quaid portraying the former president.
Additional nominees for what the Razzies call “less-than-stellar performances in 2024” include Jennifer Lopez for Atlas, Kevin Hart for Borderlands, and Jon Voight, who is close to setting a record with four films (Megalopolis, Reagan, Shadow Land, and Strangers) considered for Worst Supporting Actor.
In the running for Worst Director alongside Coppola are SJ Clarkson (Madame Web), Todd Phillips (Joker: Folie a Deux), Eli Roth (Borderlands), and Jerry Seinfeld (Unfrosted).
The Razzie nominations precede the announcement of the Oscar shortlists. Over 1,200 members, including movie enthusiasts, critics, and journalists from the U.S. and beyond, participated in the voting process. The winners will be revealed on Saturday, March 1, with the Oscars ceremony scheduled for Sunday, March 2.
