Lodha vs Lodha: Abhishek Lodha discusses the conflict between the siblings regarding the Lodha brand.

**Lodha Brothers in Legal Dispute Over Brand Name**

Abhishek Lodha, CEO of Macrotech Developers, has publicly addressed the legal action taken against his younger brother Abhinandan regarding the use of the Lodha brand name. Macrotech Developers Ltd, part of the Lodha Group, has approached the Bombay High Court to prevent The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), a real estate company founded by Abhinandan, from utilizing the Lodha name. The company argues that HoABL’s use of the name has led to customer confusion regarding the brand identity.

Macrotech’s lawsuit claims that HoABL is infringing on the Lodha Group’s trademarks and misrepresenting its business as being associated with Macrotech. The next court session is scheduled for January 27. In his first comments since the lawsuit was initiated, Abhishek Lodha emphasized the significance of the brand and the necessity of legal action to protect it.

He noted that the October-December quarter marked Macrotech’s highest pre-sales performance to date, and the company is on track to meet its financial targets for the fiscal year 2024-25. Recently, Macrotech Developers reported an 87% year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching ₹944.8 crore for the December quarter, with revenues rising by 39.3% to ₹4,083 crore.

In discussing the importance of branding in real estate, Abhishek Lodha stated that a strong brand serves as a key identifier in a complex market, providing consumers with confidence in their purchasing decisions. He stressed that the brand encapsulates the quality, financial strength, and integrity of the company.

Regarding the significance of the Lodha brand for Macrotech, he asserted the company’s commitment to safeguarding it, ensuring that consumers are not misled. He acknowledged the financial responsibilities he assumed during the family separation, amounting to ₹20,000 crore in liabilities, and expressed his desire for his brother to succeed in real estate, while firmly stating that the brand should not be misused by others.

When asked why legal action was necessary, he indicated that the situation could not be resolved through informal or creative means.
