**Macquarie Asset Management Appoints Prateek Jhawar as Head of Real Assets in India**

Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) has announced the appointment of Prateek Jhawar as the head of real assets for India, effective January 2026. In this role, Jhawar will oversee MAM’s infrastructure and green investments teams in India, spearheading origination and investment strategies to propel the firm’s growth trajectory.

This strategic appointment comes as India remains a key market for Macquarie, bolstered by strong economic and demographic trends that are driving the demand for both digital and physical infrastructure. The firm is also keen to enhance investor interest in green investments.

Jhawar brings with him nearly two decades of experience in investment banking and corporate finance, having spent approximately 17 years at Avendus Capital. His extensive background includes a proven track record in mergers and acquisitions, where he has led significant transactions across various sectors, including infrastructure, power, logistics, and real estate. He has also demonstrated expertise in structuring and fundraising.

During his tenure at Avendus, Jhawar played a pivotal role in establishing the structured finance and special situations advisory business and later founded the infrastructure and real assets vertical.

Verena Lim, co-head of MAM Infrastructure for Asia-Pacific and CEO of the group in Asia, expressed confidence in Jhawar’s capabilities, stating, “His deep experience across various sectors and ability to leverage his established network will strengthen our investment capabilities in a growing market like India and deliver long-term value for our investors. We look forward to Prateek’s leadership in advancing MAM India’s next phase of growth.”

Since 1999, Macquarie has invested over $4.2 billion in equity capital across Indian businesses, focusing on toll roads, renewables, and digital infrastructure. The firm’s operations in India represent one of its largest employee bases outside Australia, with over 1,900 staff members across its offices in Mumbai, Gurugram, and Hyderabad.

Earlier this year, MAM successfully closed its fundraising for Vertelo, a fleet electrification solutions platform in India, contributing to the country’s transition to electric vehicles.

Macquarie Asset Management is a global asset management firm that manages approximately $634.5 billion in assets as of September 2025. As part of the Macquarie Group, it offers a range of investment solutions, including real assets, real estate, credit, equities, and multi-asset strategies.
