**CII Elects New Leadership for 2025-26 Term**
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has appointed its new office bearers for the 2025-26 term during a recent meeting of its newly formed national council. Rajiv Memani, the Chairman and CEO of EY India, has been elected as the President of CII, succeeding Sanjiv Puri, Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Ltd.
Memani, who also serves as the Chair of EY’s Global Executive Board’s Growth Markets Council, is recognized as a trusted advisor to major Indian corporations, private equity firms, and multinational companies. His expertise lies in areas such as confidence building, mergers and acquisitions, technology, and strategic capital allocation. In his role focused on emerging markets, Memani is responsible for promoting EY’s growth agenda and aligning it with the global firm’s investments.
Before his current position, Memani played a pivotal role in establishing EY India’s Corporate Finance practice in the late 1990s. He previously held the position of President-Designate for CII in 2024-25 and served as Vice President in 2023-24. Memani is actively involved in public discussions on tax and policy reforms and has contributed to several high-level committees for the Government of India, including the Ministry of Finance taskforce that developed a new Direct Tax Code in 2019. Additionally, he is the President of the Board of Him Jyoti School, which focuses on providing quality education to underprivileged girls in Uttarakhand, and serves on the board of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sirmaur, as well as the governing council of KREA University. R Mukundan, the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited, has been appointed as CII’s President-Designate for 2025-26. Mukundan, who joined the Tata Administrative Service in 1990 after earning his MBA from FMS, Delhi University, is a distinguished alumnus of IIT Roorkee and a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society. He has had a diverse career within the Tata Group, spanning 33 years across various sectors, including chemicals, automotive, and hospitality. Mukundan has been actively involved in industry forums and impact organizations and previously served as Vice President of CII for 2024-25 and Chairman of CII’s Western Region in 2013-14. In 2023, he chaired several CII committees, including the Institute of Quality Advisory Council and the National Committee on Environment.
