Saquon Barkley was the star of the show on the field, but he acknowledges the support he received during his record-setting season. In Super Bowl LIX, the Philadelphia Eagles running back shattered the all-time record for the most rushing yards in a single season, including playoffs, amassing an impressive 2,504 yards. During a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Barkley emphasized the importance of his offensive linemen, and ahead of their Super Bowl parade, he surprised them with a generous gift: a truckload of Bud Light for each lineman.
Barkley had a standout season, much to the dismay of New York Giants fans. After the Giants decided to part ways with him, he became the ninth player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a regular season. Had he not taken a break in Week 18, he might have surpassed Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record.
This past offseason, Barkley signed a three-year contract with the Eagles, a decision that is proving to be one of their best in recent years. Out of the 20 games he played, he rushed for over 100 yards in 12 of them and exceeded 200 yards in two games. His outstanding performance during the regular season earned him the Offensive Player of the Year award, marking the first time since 2005-2006 that running backs have won the accolade in consecutive years.
In the Super Bowl, Barkley managed to rush for only 57 yards, a rare highlight for the Kansas City Chiefs, but ultimately, he walked away with the Lombardi Trophy.
