**Karnataka Deputy CM D K Shivakumar Addresses Speculation on Delhi Visit**

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has clarified the purpose of his recent trip to New Delhi, aiming to dispel rumors regarding his meeting with the Congress high command amidst ongoing discussions about leadership tensions in the state. Shivakumar, who also serves as the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, stated that his visit was solely to attend a friend’s son’s wedding and to finalize arrangements for the upcoming ‘Vote Chori’ rally scheduled for December 14, which is expected to draw over 10,000 participants from Karnataka.

In a statement to reporters, Shivakumar emphasized, “There is no political agenda. I am here for my friend’s son’s wedding. Additionally, I wanted to discuss the preparations for the Vote Chori rally with my colleagues and friends, as it is my responsibility as party president.” He confirmed that he would return to Bengaluru early Thursday morning for a Cabinet meeting at 11 am, noting that he did not plan to meet with anyone in Delhi due to their commitments in Parliament.

Shivakumar also highlighted the importance of unity within the party, stating, “We must work together to advance Karnataka and restore the party’s strength.” His comments come amid speculation regarding a power struggle between him and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, although both leaders have publicly denied any discord.

While Shivakumar was in Delhi, Siddaramaiah attended an event in Mangaluru commemorating the centenary of reformer Sri Narayana Guru’s meeting with Mahatma Gandhi. Congress general secretary K C Venugopal delivered the keynote address at the event and later had lunch with Siddaramaiah, who remarked that no political discussions took place.

When asked about Shivakumar’s trip, Siddaramaiah responded, “Let him go. Has anyone said no to him?” He further indicated that he would only travel to Delhi if invited, stating, “I was not invited, so I am not going.” Any directives from the party high command regarding meetings in Delhi would be communicated through Venugopal.

In conclusion, Shivakumar’s visit to Delhi appears to be focused on personal and organizational matters rather than political negotiations, reinforcing the need for collaboration within the Congress party in Karnataka.
