**Farmers Protest Fertilizer Shortage in Uttar Pradesh**

Farmers in Uttar Pradesh are facing a critical fertilizer shortage during the peak sowing season, prompting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to organize widespread protests across the state on Saturday. Hundreds of AAP supporters gathered at various tehsil headquarters, demanding immediate government action and submitting a memorandum to local District Officers.

The protest, termed ‘halla bol,’ was initiated by AAP’s state in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. In a statement on social media, the party highlighted the dire situation, noting that farmers are struggling to obtain essential fertilizers like DAP and urea. Many have been forced to wait in long lines for hours, only to leave empty-handed. AAP claims that over 50% of cooperative societies in Uttar Pradesh are experiencing similar shortages.

Sanjay Singh criticized the Yogi government for its failure to address the issue, stating, “Farmers are not receiving fertilizers even after standing in line for hours.” The party’s memorandum outlines five key demands: immediate and sufficient fertilizer supply, a ban on black marketing and corruption in distribution, transparency in the distribution system, accountability for responsible officials, and a special assistance package for affected farmers.

AAP spokesperson Vanshraj Dubey accused the state government of neglecting repeated complaints and called for a comprehensive review of the fertilizer supply system. In contrast, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and Cooperative Minister JPS Rathore denied any shortages, asserting that there is an adequate supply throughout the state.

Additionally, AAP shared an incident from Madhya Pradesh on its social media, alleging that the BJP government deceived farmers by settling a crop insurance claim of over Rs 3 lakh for just Rs 1,200.

As the situation unfolds, the AAP continues to advocate for farmers’ rights and seeks urgent solutions to the ongoing fertilizer crisis in Uttar Pradesh.
