**Neighbours Cancelled for a Second Time, Final Episode Set for December 2025**
Neighbours has been cancelled for a second time, just two years after Amazon provided a lifeline to the beloved Australian soap. A statement on the show’s social media platforms announced that the final episode of the 40-year series will air in December 2025.
The series chronicles the lives of the residents of Erinsborough, a fictional suburb in Melbourne, and boasts a roster of famous alumni, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and Margot Robbie.
Executive producer Jason Herbison expressed gratitude, stating, “Audiences around the world have cherished Neighbours for four decades, and we are immensely proud of the success we’ve achieved over the past two years, including frequent appearances in the Top 10 titles in the UK and the show’s first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024.” He also thanked Amazon MGM Studios for their support in bringing this iconic series to new global audiences.
Herbison acknowledged the passion of the fans, stating, “We recognize how much the audience loves Neighbours, and we believe there are more stories from Ramsay Street to tell in the future.”
This marks the second cancellation of the show, which was initially axed by Channel 5 in the UK due to a lack of funding. However, a few months after what was intended to be its final episode, the series was revived by streaming service Amazon Freevee and Fremantle.
The show is currently available online in the UK and airs on Channel 10 in Australia. Channel 10 expressed their sadness over the cancellation, stating, “They’ve been our neighbours for almost 40 years, and we are deeply saddened to say goodbye. We extend our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this remarkable Australian story over the years.
