INDIANAPOLIS – Times have changed in America, and the notion that the Philadelphia Eagles would forgo another visit to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win with President Donald Trump is no longer applicable. This was the situation in 2018, but it’s different in 2025.
The Eagles, who recently secured their second Super Bowl title in seven years by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, are eager to visit Trump this time. “We would be honored to visit the White House,” a team source shared. “It’s something we have looked forward to, and we anticipate receiving the invitation.” However, the White House has yet to extend that invitation.
It seems that managing a large government, saving billions, negotiating peace in the Middle East and Ukraine, and supporting the USA hockey team takes considerable time. Nevertheless, the invitation is expected to arrive, and this time it will be accepted.
Earlier this month, there were rumors and a misleading report suggesting that the Eagles had voted against making the trip. OutKick founder Clay Travis dispelled that rumor. This report seemed credible due to the Eagles and Trump not reaching an agreement for a visit after their Super Bowl victory over the Patriots in 2018. Amid the kneeling controversy, several players opted not to attend. The plan was to send a smaller group of players for the ceremony, but the visit was ultimately canceled, and the White House rescinded the invitation.
At that time, the White House stated that the Eagles players disagreed “with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.” Thus, that trip never materialized.
However, this is a new era in America. In the last election, Black, Hispanic, and other minority groups voted for Trump in record numbers. The kneeling controversy surrounding the anthem is no longer an issue, and there is optimism that the economy, which has affected many, especially in cities like Philadelphia, can improve.
The Florida Panthers were the first professional team to visit Trump during his second term to celebrate their 2024 Stanley Cup victory. Additionally, Tiger Woods, a recipient of the 2020 Presidential Medal of Freedom, has recently spent time with Trump. It is believed that Trump is a passionate sports fan, having attended the Super Bowl where the Eagles triumphed, making him one of the most sports-oriented presidents in recent memory.
