None of us would like to have our lives judged by our worst decision, that’s for sure,” Showalter said. Rose received a lifetime ban from MLB in 1989 due to his gambling.PETE ROSE TALKS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION IN ONE OF FINAL INTERVIEWS BEFORE DEATHRose would undoubtedly be in the Baseball Hall of Fame if his statistics on the field outweighed breaking the golden rule in the sport.Rose is MLB’s hit king with 4,256 career hits.
