**Uttarakhand Faces Disruption from Heavy Rainfall and Landslides**

Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has led to significant landslides and flash floods, causing major disruptions to the Char Dham Yatra and impacting local communities across several districts. The Kedarnath pilgrimage was temporarily suspended as a landslide blocked the route. In Rudraprayag, the pedestrian path from Gaurikund to Kedarnath was closed around 3:30 AM on Saturday due to debris and boulders obstructing the way. Authorities have halted traffic on this stretch, and efforts are underway to clear the route.

On Saturday morning, the Rumsi stream in the Bedu Bagad area of Agastyamuni overflowed due to persistent rainfall, flooding numerous houses, hotels, and parking areas near the Kedarnath highway. The rushing water, laden with mud and debris, created conditions reminiscent of flash floods. Local residents reported that the stream rose suddenly, inundating nearby areas with silt and rubble. Many homes and hotels along the highway suffered damage, and several vehicles were buried under the debris, with two-wheelers reportedly submerged as recovery efforts continue.

In Uttarkashi, approximately a 100-meter section of the Yamunotri National Highway collapsed near Phoolchatti on Friday, halting all vehicular movement. Meanwhile, Bageshwar district recorded over 74 mm of rainfall in the Kapkot block on Friday evening, leading to the blockage of nine roads due to landslides. To assist with clearance and relief operations, 57 JCB machines have been deployed in the area.

In Tehri’s Balganga tehsil, a large tree fell on the road near Nageshwar Saud on Saturday morning after heavy overnight rainfall weakened its roots. This incident has obstructed the Uttarkashi-Kedarnath Char Dham motor route, affecting the movement of Kanwar pilgrims, Char Dham yatris, and local commuters.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Bageshwar, and Champawat over the next 48 hours, while a yellow alert is in effect for the remaining districts. Authorities are advising locals and pilgrims to stay updated on weather conditions before traveling, as routes remain perilous due to the ongoing downpour.
