Members of the Mahomes family openly expressed their support for President Donald Trump. During his historic visit as the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, Trump interacted with fans, including the Mahomes family, who were seen taking a photo with him while watching Patrick Mahomes compete in his fifth Super Bowl.
Randi Mahomes, Patrick’s mother, donned a red “Make America Great Again” hat paired with a Chiefs sweatshirt when Kansas City hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the eve of the election. She shared her thoughts with media, stating, “I think for a president of our country, it’s amazing. Supporting the teams and America’s best sport is really neat for a president.”
In a Super Bowl interview with Bret Baier, Trump also commended Patrick’s wife, Brittney, who had previously shown her support for him by liking a post outlining the “2024 GOP platform.” Trump remarked, “She’s a Trump fan. She’s a MAGA fan, so I happened to love her, but she’s a great person.”
On the field before the game, Trump was seen shaking hands with Chiefs star pass rusher Chris Jones. However, the anticipated “Trump magic” did not translate to success for Kansas City, as they faced a 40-22 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite being one of the NFL’s top offenses this season, the Chiefs struggled significantly, managing only 34 total yards in the first half as the Eagles’ defense dominated. Patrick Mahomes faced considerable pressure, resulting in three consecutive punts and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by rookie Cooper DeJean. The Eagles’ defense also recorded six sacks on Mahomes during the game.
