**Headline:** Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force Exposes Inter-State Fake BAMS Degree Scheme

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has successfully dismantled an inter-state operation involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degrees, marksheets, and certificates. The alleged mastermind, Mohd Taruq, was apprehended on January 9, 2026, in Prayagraj, where he was running an office and clinic under the guise of the ‘Savitribai Phule Medical Research Centre.’

Investigations revealed that Taruq charged between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10 lakh for fake BAMS qualifications, targeting individuals across Uttar Pradesh and other states. One notable case involved a complainant named Brahmanand, who paid approximately Rs 6 lakh and received forged BAMS documents falsely attributed to Shivalik Ayurvedic Medical College in Azamgarh and Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur.

During questioning, Taruq admitted to issuing numerous fake BAMS degrees and marksheets under various university names. He also confessed to creating forged documents in his own name and that of his wife, Rashida Parveen, falsely claiming affiliations with Uttarakhand Ayurveda University and other institutions. Alarmingly, he was treating patients with serious health conditions based on these fraudulent qualifications, posing a significant threat to public health.

In a raid conducted by the STF Field Unit in Prayagraj, authorities seized a computer CPU, a mobile phone, a 32 GB pen drive, and 68 photocopies of counterfeit marksheets and certificates. The operation was executed under the supervision of a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

A case has been registered against Taruq at the Kareli police station in the Prayagraj Commissionerate, invoking serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to identify additional beneficiaries and connections to the broader racket.

**FAQ Section:**

**Q: What actions are being taken against the accused in the fake BAMS degree case?**
A: The accused has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him under serious legal provisions. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further links and beneficiaries involved in the racket.
