H1: Amit Shah Appeals to Naxals to Surrender Arms and Embrace Development

Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a compelling appeal to Naxals on Saturday, urging them to lay down their arms and reintegrate into society. He emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating red terror in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region by March 2026. Speaking at the conclusion of the Bastar Pandum Festival in Dantewada, Shah stated, “You cannot halt the development of your tribal brothers and sisters by resorting to violence.”

During the event, which coincided with Ashtami and Ram Navami, Shah expressed his dedication to the cause, saying, “I seek blessings from Goddess Danteshwari and vow that by the next Chaitra Navratri, the shadow of red terror will be eliminated from Bastar. This is my promise, made on the sacred soil of Dantewada.”

Shah declared that the era of violence in Bastar is over, urging Naxalites to abandon their weapons and join the mainstream. “The days of gunfire and bomb blasts in Bastar are behind us. I implore my Naxalite brothers to surrender their arms. You are part of us. No one rejoices in the death of a Naxalite. Just lay down your weapons and reintegrate into society,” he stated.

He highlighted that 521 Naxals had surrendered in 2025, following 881 in 2024. “Those who have realized that development requires computers and pens, not arms and explosives, have chosen to surrender,” he noted.

Shah assured that both the Union and state governments would provide full protection and support to those who choose to return to the mainstream. “This region is in dire need of development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to bring significant progress to Bastar within five years. However, this can only be achieved when children attend school, health facilities are available in tehsils, and every individual possesses an Aadhaar card, ration card, and health insurance,” he explained.

He stressed the importance of local communities in driving out Naxalism from their homes and villages. “Development can only occur when the people of Bastar decide to make their homes and villages free from Naxal influence,” he asserted.

Shah commended Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma for their efforts in combating Naxalism and supporting tribal communities. He also announced that the state government would allocate Rs 1 crore for construction projects in every village that assists in the surrender of Naxals and declares itself Maoist-free.

Additionally, he praised Chief Minister Sai for dismantling the exploitative middlemen network that had long affected tribal communities. “The government will now procure tendu leaves directly from the tribals at a historic rate of Rs 4,000 per standard sack,” Shah remarked.

Looking ahead, Shah envisioned a future where Bastar is recognized not for Naxalism but for its rich cultural heritage and progress. He announced plans for the next Bastar Pandum Festival to be held at the national level, inviting tribal communities from across India to participate and showcase their traditions.
