WARTBURG, Tenn. (AP) — Two individuals tragically lost their lives in eastern Tennessee as severe storms, potentially including a tornado, swept through the area. Local officials reported on Friday morning that a mother and daughter from the same household were killed when the storm impacted the Deer Lodge and Sunbright regions of Morgan County on Thursday night, as stated in a social media update from the county’s emergency management agency. Additionally, three other individuals sustained injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol announced on social media that troopers were present in Morgan County to ensure the safety of residents and to assess and assist with structural damage. The Morgan County School District also announced that schools would be closed on Friday due to “significant damage from tornadoes in parts of our county.
