The Kansas City Chiefs were unable to secure their third consecutive Super Bowl title on Sunday, but one player celebrated his third straight championship ring. Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Darian Kinnard hit the jackpot as he served as the backup to tackle Lane Johnson. With the Eagles’ victory in Super Bowl LIX, Kinnard earned his third consecutive ring.
Kinnard, who spent the previous two seasons with the Chiefs, received rings from their Super Bowl victories in 2022 and 2023. With the Eagles’ triumph, he became only the second player in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles, joining former linebacker Ken Norton Jr. Norton achieved this feat during the Dallas Cowboys’ back-to-back championships in the 1992 and 1993 seasons, followed by a third title with the San Francisco 49ers in 1994.
Before pursuing another championship, Kinnard expressed to the New York Post that he felt “spoiled” by his success. At just 25 years old, Kinnard was a standout offensive lineman at the University of Kentucky before entering the NFL. The Chiefs selected him in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He made one appearance in his rookie season but did not play in his second year. During the 2023 season, Kinnard was on the Chiefs’ practice squad before being signed by the Eagles on February 20, 2024.
The Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22, securing the franchise’s second Super Bowl title.
