Philadelphia officials projected that over 1 million fans would converge for the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory parade. On Friday, a vibrant crowd donned in Eagles green filled Broad Street in Philadelphia to celebrate the occasion. The Eagles’ defense showcased an impressive performance, sacking Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes six times and forcing two interceptions, leading to a 40-22 victory on Sunday in New Orleans. Just five days later, fans had the opportunity to rally behind their team in their home city.
Star running back Saquon Barkley expressed his amazement at the scene. “You can’t use words to describe this,” he remarked to a reporter while riding on an open-top bus during the parade. Barkley further shared his joy, stating, “Every time I think Philly can’t take it to another level, it takes it to a whole ‘nother level. My family and I are just happy and honored to be part of this organization and this city. This city deserves it all, and here we are. I might be having too much fun.”
The three-time Pro Bowler hailed Eagles fans as the “best fans in the world.” He reflected on the celebration, saying, “It definitely exceeded expectations. I saw a little clip from 2017 when they won the first Super Bowl. We have the best fans in the world.”
Philadelphia is renowned for its passionate fan base, though the city has celebrated a limited number of championships in recent decades. The Eagles’ latest Super Bowl victory marks the third professional championship for Philadelphia in the last 40 years, following the Phillies’ World Series win in 2008 and the Eagles’ triumph over the New England Patriots in the 2018 Super Bowl. Barkley noted, “You get a little greedy and start thinking about the future, and this brings you back to the moment.
