**Football Manager 25 Release Canceled After Multiple Delays**
The developers of the video game Football Manager 25 have announced the cancellation of its release following several delays. The game’s launch date had already been postponed twice, and the creators acknowledged that this latest update would be a significant disappointment for fans.
In a statement released on Thursday, Sports Interactive revealed that they had made the “difficult decision” to scrap the release entirely after extensive discussions with Sega. The team will now shift their focus to the upcoming Football Manager 26, which is anticipated to launch later this year. They expressed their sincere apologies to those who had pre-ordered the game.
Football Manager first debuted in November 2004, with its most recent installment hitting shelves in November 2023. The latest version of the series is available on various platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. It achieved the status of the “most played” title in the franchise’s history, attracting seven million players within the first 100 days of its release.
Sports Interactive had aimed to deliver “the biggest technical and visual advancement in the series for a generation” with Football Manager 25. However, the game faced delays due to a range of challenges, and it became “unmistakably clear” that it would not meet the expected standards, even with additional time. The company noted that the “overarching player experience and interface is not where [they need] it to be.”
While Sports Interactive mentioned that they “could have pressed on,” they felt it was “too late in the football season” to proceed beyond a March release. The company is now fully committed to ushering in a new era for the Football Manager series.
