In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Bihar gangster Chandan Mishra, two men suspected of involvement were injured during a police encounter near Bihia in Arrah city. The shootout occurred around 6 am on the Bihia-Kateya road, as part of a coordinated operation involving the Special Task Force (STF) and local police.

The injured suspects, identified as Balwant and Raviranjan, are believed to be members of the gang responsible for the assassination of Chandan Mishra, a convicted murderer who was shot while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Patna on July 17. Balwant, a resident of Buxar, is alleged to have played a direct role in the hospital shooting, while Raviranjan is from Bihia in Arrah district.

During the encounter, both suspects sustained gunshot wounds—Raviranjan was hit in the thigh, and Balwant suffered injuries to his arms and legs. They were initially transported to Bihia Hospital around 6:25 am and later referred to Arrah for advanced medical care under strict police supervision. Additionally, a third suspect, Abhishek Kumar, has been apprehended by law enforcement.

Chandan Mishra, who was serving a sentence in Beur Jail, had been granted parole for medical treatment when he was fatally shot. Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident, which circulated widely on social media, captured five armed assailants storming the ICU and opening fire at Mishra at close range.

In a related operation, the Bihar Police, in collaboration with the Kolkata Police STF, arrested Tauseef alias Badshah, the prime suspect in the murder, along with his cousin Nishu Khan and two accomplices, Harsh and Bhim, in Kolkata. Tauseef has been placed in a three-day police remand, while the others are in judicial custody. Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma confirmed that Tauseef and Nishu are wanted in multiple cases, including violations of the Arms Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities are actively working to identify and locate four additional shooters captured in the CCTV footage.

The conspiracy to murder Mishra reportedly originated at Nishu Khan’s residence in the Samanpura area of Patna. However, Khan has denied any involvement in the plot and refuted claims that a meeting took place at his home.

In light of the incident, five police personnel, including a sub-inspector, two assistant sub-inspectors, and two constables, have been suspended for negligence related to Mishra’s murder. Patna (Central) Superintendent of Police Diksha stated that the officers were stationed at the Shastri Nagar police station at the time of the incident.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain vigilant in addressing gang violence and ensuring justice for the victims involved.
